The bridge is 123 meters long, 28 meters wide and 45 meters high. The turning point of the bridge lies far from the middle, for this reason the bridge is kept in balance by 2800 barrels ballast, existing from heavy concrete and steel blocks.
The construction exists from five large hydraulic lift cylinders which levy the bridge of its position and two large turn cylinders which can open and close the bridge in 90 degrees. The total installed power is 220 kW, de turning cylinders have a calibre of 550 mm, a shaft of 300 mm and a stroke of 3800 mm.
The 5 lifting cylinders are type 800/720 with a stroke of 150 mm.

This Lock Channel complex consists of combination of two land abutments, 16 pillars with in between seventeen openings of each ca. 60 meters and has a total length of approx. 1 km. Each opening is shut off with two steel segment gates, which move up and down, on hinging arms and are driven by hydraulic cylinders. These single working cylinders have a calibre of approx. 800 mm, a stroke of approx. 4500 mm and are each able to move a weight of approx. 900 Ton. In favour of the lifespan and reliability of the Storm Surge Barriers it all runs at a small working pressure of approx. 150 Bar.
